NEW YORK, Feb 2, 2008 / FR/ --- Usually relegated on the first day of the New York fashion season, the menswear scene keeps on getting better and better and the most exciting designer is Duckie Brown by design duo Steven Cox and Daniel Silver.
In less than five years since it was launched (we first saw them on Feb 2005), the designers have been nominated as CDFA Menswear Designer of the Year, a feat for a fashion house that is not back up by big corporations.
And that is the reason why Duckie Brown is hottest menswear ticket in town. Talent and masterful tailoring makes Steven Cox and Daniel Silver role models for young designers, proving that in an environment of mergers and acquisitions, little guys can survive and will prevail because they have the talent and work hard to achieve their goal.
For Fall 2008, Duckie Brown is all about the young sophisticated urban male who dresses well, but refuses to be part of the mainstream crowd. That said, it can be repeated that it actually Steven Cox and Daniel Silver’s message for the season – ‘You don’t have to be part of the establishment to look good.’
A little rebellious perhaps for the very conservative, but even an unpopular President cannot say that the Duckie Brown gent does not dress well enough for one of his twin daughters.
Because that is the magic that Duckie Brown weaves in its collection. An edgy look that even the leading age baby boomers who are in their 60s now would have something to complain about. It’s more than acceptable to the most polite company, yet there is that feeling of a tense tiger within that is hard to pinpoint.
